The Yakima Enological Society, after reviewing the available information on the pandemic and meeting with the management of the Yakima Country Club decided that we will proceed with vigor and a sense of urgency to present a great Platinum event on October 9 starting at 5:30 at the Yakima Country Club. If you have been waiting to attend a special event to commemorate getting back to normal, this is the event you have been waiting for.

Some highlights of this year’s event:

During the Winemakers Reception, we will be pouring eight wines, all of them are Double platinum winners. Of the Twenty-two wines being poured at the event, twenty of them are Double Platinum winners and two are Platinum winners.

The five-course dinner will feature Platinum award winners paired with a menu that is still in development but will be up to the high standards we have come to expect from the Yakima Country Club. The wine courses this year will include Viognier, Pinot Noir, Red Blends, Syrah and finally a Late Harvest Riesling and a Riesling Ice-wine.

The most Double Platinum awards for a single red varietal went to Syrah with 8 Doubles followed by Pinot Noirs with 6 Doubles and “Red Blends” with 5 Doubles. We will be featuring all three of these Double Platinum winning wines each paired with one of the food courses for the dinner.

Of the Twenty-two wineries providing the wines for this event, currently nineteen of them are planning on sending representatives to the event to talk about their wines and their winery

We will have a silent auction during the winemaker’s reception with our usual beautiful baskets and award-winning wine lots by Bev Warren. Throughout the evening we will have a live auction of wines, dinners, and the opportunity to attend and participate in the 2021 Platinum judging sponsored by Wine Press Northwest magazine.  Proceeds from this event continue to go for wine industry scholarships at Yakima Valley College, WSU Tri-Cities School of Enology, the wine program at Walla Walla Community College, Okanagan Community College in British Columbia, and the wine program at Umpqua College in Oregon.

The ticket cost this year is $150 per person if the tickets are purchased prior to July 31st.  After the 31st the cost will go to $165 per person. Since we have a shortened window to attend, it is urgent that you act quickly if you want to support this special event. A reservation form can be downloaded here for your convenience.  The best and easiest way to get tickets is to go to “Brown Paper Tickets”, click on “search events”, enter “Y.E.S. Platinum Dinner” and use your credit card.

Please note that all auction items purchased at this event must be paid for with cash or checks only as YES is unable to accept credit cards at the Yakima Country Club.

This event is open to all YES members, members of the Yakima Country Club and their invited guests, so get some friends together and enjoy some great wine and food while supporting the wineries and winemakers of the Pacific Northwest. The event in 2019 was a sellout, so do not delay and get your reservations in now.
